Disqus Comments WordPress Plugin v2.3 Now Available!

Posted on March 9 by giannii

[ UPDATE: We just increased the plugin version to 2.32 to fix a bug with exporting your comments to Disqus. If you were having problems exporting since the release of the new plugin, upgrade to the latest version.]

We’ve just released the latest update to the Disqus WordPress plugin! You can download it here or update directly from the WordPress admin panel. This is version 2.3 and includes many updates that we are very happy to announce.

    • Updated user interface to better sit within the WordPress admin aesthetics. Clean up of moderation, navigation, and support interfaces.
    • Improved comment exporting and local backup. Exporting is now down in smaller chunks and addresses execution timeout and server memory issues.
    • Faster JavaScript loading. The main comment system JavaScript is now loaded asynchronously and will not block the loading of other widgets and scripts on the page.
    • Better handling of closed/disabled comments on pages and posts.
    • Disqus now updates the permalink URL of the comment thread when it changes from WordPress. This addresses previous issues with missing Reactions (tweets, etc) and missing comments.
    • More consistent handling of comment counts. Comment count script is included the default post loop, but can also be tweaked to be included in the wp_footer.
    • Single sign-on with WordPress accounts integrated into plugin (VIP only).
    • Fixes and compatibility workarounds with other WordPress plugins.

This is strongly recommended for all WordPress users; please let us know if you run into any issues. Thanks to our friends Alex and Devin at Crowd Favorite for all of their help and WordPress-expertise!
