    Growing fast and keeping up

Posted on April 6 by danielha

This past month, the Disqus network reached over 100 million unique visitors (we get our numbers from server logs, Google Analytics, and Quantcast). That’s awesome! Disqus now reaches more people than the population of Germany (82M), Vietnam (85M), or the Philippines (92M). If the Disqus network was a country, it’d be the 12th largest one. We’d be in the top 10 if pesky Japan (127M) and Mexico (107M) got out of the way. (source)

We’re quickly approaching 9 million commenter profiles across over 300,000 registered communities. While we’re excited about the opportunities this presents for the service itself, we’re still very focused on our scaling challenges. If you use Disqus, you trust us to be reliable and fast. This is very, very important to us. And, we’re confident that the Disqus network will reach 200 million unique visitors in less than 6 months.

If you think you could help us get there, we’d love to hear from you. We’ve been searching for smart, passionate, fun people to work with, and we’re not done with the search.

We’re currently looking for a lead Operations Engineer who will be handling systems administration and database scaling. We’re also looking for more Python/Django engineers who are interested in working on one of the largest Django applications on the web.

These challenges are interesting on a technical level, but personally I’m really in love with our features roadmap for Disqus. We get to work with so many great websites and their communities, all varying in shape and size — we’re excited for the ideas we already have, but we’re even more excited for ideas we haven’t thought of yet. If you’d like to work with us on impacting all of these communities, we’re also looking hard for great front-end web developers.

The network is growing fast, and we continue to look for ways to keep up with new users, new challenges, and new ideas.

    Daniel
