Today we're very excited to announce the latest version of the Disqus WordPress plugin... say hello to v3.1!
WordPress is by far the most popular content management system used by publishers to build their websites, and as such we wanted to make sure that the user experience for our tens of thousands of WordPress publishers is as good as it can possibly be. This is why we're thrilled to roll out v3.1 today.
What's new in v3.1?
Compatibility with block themes: Disqus is now compatible with WordPress' default block themes! This gives you greater flexibility in integrating Disqus with a larger palette of website themes available in WordPress. Disqus remains compatible with classic themes as well.
Improved syncing tools: The newly updated plugin offers wide-ranging enhancements to both manual and automatic syncing functionality. We've addressed a number of bugs that were impacting syncing tools, and we've also expanded the allowable manual syncing data rage for greater ease-of-use. On a related note, we've established more helpful error messaging in the browser console and throughout the plugin UI—this will allow for easier troubleshooting when encountering any issues with syncing (but we don't expect you'll encounter many at all).
Compatible with WordPress 6.5: Last week, WordPress debuted the latest version of their platform, WordPress 6.5, and we've proactively made sure that our plugin is completely compatible with it. If you run into any issues at all, please let us know.
Refreshed plugin UI: We've unveiled a fresh UI update for the plugin's admin panel, adding modern touches for a cleaner, more intuitive experience all around.
Messaging regarding Disqus ads: Some of our new WordPress publishers become confused as to why they see ads appear on their comment sections. Please remember that Disqus ads are NOT required—we offer subscription plans that are ad-free, and now we've added better communication to that effect throughout the plugin UI to eliminate any confusion.
Final word
All in all, we believe that the latest version of our WordPress plugin offers a much better overall experience for our publishers.
If you are running into any issues with or have any questions about the updates, please drop a comment below or head over to our Troubleshooting and FAQ guide. We're also open to any new feature ideas that you'd like us to incorporate into future updates, and as always, please feel free to write us a review and let us know what you think of the plugin.
We hope you enjoy these updates! Stay tuned for more improvements to come...
